Up & down with Luigi in Gibraltar - an incursion in time and space
A trip to Costa del Sol is not complete without visiting Gibraltar. Why is a piece of rock so important? Gibraltar is not just a rock thrown from above on the coast of Southern Europe. It is a country, a nation, culture, a piece of heaven and many more.
All of these we found out, spending a day with it's people, alongside our wonderful guide, Luigi Vinet.
On September 13, 2019, on a perfect morning, around 10 am, we crossed the border of Spain into Gibraltar. A family of 5 with our passports in our hands and tiny backpacks on our backs. After the border formalities, our guide and driver, Luigi was waiting for us in his shuttle, to start an adventure.
Our visit, which was estimated to about 4 hours, had exceeded the time frame for us to be able to visit and experience everything Gibraltar has to offer.
If you want to know the past and history of these people, if you want to speak English, Spanish/Andalusian Spanish, pick Luigi as your tour guide.
If you want to reach the highest point of the cliff, where only eagles fly, or if you want to go down into the deepest parts of the mountain, to hear with your mind the guns of WW2, choose Luigi as your tour guide.
If you want to see how the cultures and religions intertwine on a radius of a few miles, a Moorish castle near a Christian fortress, a mosque near a cathedral, choose Luigi as your tour guide.
If you want to see monkeys, or stroll around with them on your shoulders, to see them hanging down from the car you're riding, drooling over the driver's palm, choose Luigi as your tour guide.
There's a lot more to say, but it's better for each one of you to see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears what Gibraltar has to offer. You can contact Luigi Vinet either by phone (+350 56000658, +350 56000659) or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Thank you Luigi, a great man and a wonderful tour guide!
